Debian art & synfigstudio
Few weeks ago, I began working with Paul Wise (pabs) with Synfig Studio packages, an excellent software to make animations.
I have tested it just one and a half hour with no previous experience and reading the tutorial I ended this animation. (UPDATE: you could get the .sif file too)

There is a complete gallery with a lot of examples.

At the moment we are only four developers working on it, and extra developers working on it should be welcome!

Hi,

please don't confuse a Developer with an Artist. I know this argument has been raised several times, but please! If you want to have *really* good looking artwork for Debian get some (semi) professional artists. A competiton would be a good way to get artists involved.

A perfect example of bad artwork is the current Debian logo (the official one with the bottle), and the Debian homepage itself. It's rather obvious that some geek created this stuff rather than an artist.

It's your opinion the logo is a bad artwork. You could say my animation is a bad artwork as I'm not an Artist. If you are an artist, why don't you work on a perfect one? The community will be grateful to you.

And... Debian is a community not a competition!

Sorry, I did not mean to insult you or something. I appreciate the goal to provide high quality artwork for Debian as I also think this is highly needed. But if we want high quality we should make sure we get the best person(s) for this job and don't repeat the same mistakes (Developers acting as artists) over again.

No problem... I was not trying to be an artist, only show a good program to artists to do Debian art!
